FAQ

Who is Pet Health Academy?

Pet Health Academy is an organization dedicated to bringing excellent pet first aid and cpr techniques to everyone who cares for companion animals.  PHA delivers the information in a professional and manageable format, so that anyone interested in achieving excellence in pet care can take advantage of it. PHA is also dedicated to providing the best information, so the course has been veterinarian approved and AVMA Recover Initiative Protocols are followed.

Can’t I just search the internet for First Aid and CPR techniques?

Yes, but only some of the information is good.  However, the rest is out of date, untested, or just plain wrong.  Pet Health Academy offers a certification course which is compiled of the best information available from multiple sources.  It’s the best way to learn the appropriate skills to be qualified to care for pets and show others that you’re willing to dedicate the time necessary to becoming proficient in using those skills.

Don’t forget; searching the internet is great but if you get the wrong information and a pet suffers for it, you can’t go back in time and fix it.  The best thing a responsible pet caretaker can do is to be proactive.  Learn the information now, so you don’t need to search the information when an emergency presents itself.

What is the course format like?

Here is a screen shot of the media player. The course opens in any Internet browser window and is complete with lecture, slide illustrations, video demonstrations and section quizzes, all built into a user-friendly format. You can pause, rewind, or even shutdown the window at your leisure. The program will remember where you left off and prompt you to resume to that exact spot once you sign back into your account.

What makes PHA different from other online pet CPR & 1st aid courses?

Other online courses all seem to be missing the real world application and the experience of using what they teach. We have used CPR, induced vomiting after an animal has ingested a toxin, applied first aid for common ailments as well as life-threatening ones. We do many of these things on our own pets and have developed safe and effective ways to prevent, recognize and treat any issues, whether minor or major.

You’ll also find that the format of the course is uniform and is both easy and fun to learn.  We had fun creating it and we hope you have fun learning and practicing on your pets.

What am I missing out on at home versus taking the course in a classroom?

This course takes what we have learned and have been teaching over many years and builds upon the fact that anyone can learn how to apply first aid and CPR from ANYWHERE. The classroom setting has more limitations than advantages. (Travel time, the missing pause or rewind button, a sterile environment of a classroom etc.) We encourage everyone to get a bowl of popcorn and take this course with your pet by your side. When you learn a new technique, pause the course and practice with your pet until you get it right!

What is the "lesson a day for 3 days"?

We wanted to provided some free information for anyone interested in the online certification but just not ready to dive in. The lesson a day, will send you a lesson a day for 3 days via email and it includes some excerpts fom our course as well as some free, helpful information related to bettering pet's lives.

Will there be other course offerings?

We called it Pet Health Academy because that encapsulates our goal. Academy means; a place of study or training in a special field. We want to train people in all aspects of pet health, this includes, CPR & 1st aid, bringing a new dog home, nutrition, training, grooming. Anything related to pet health that is current, useful and practical will be included. Everyday our knowledge base grows and it is our goal to share that with anyone that shares their lives with pets. Our courses will count towards continuing education units (CEU) and a host of other certifications.

What is your refund policy?

If you have taken a portion of the course and are unsatisfied within the 30 days; we will issue a refund.  Please contact info@pethealthacademy.com for the procedure.  However, once a person has finished the course or the 30 days has expired, no refund will be available.
